With the theme “There’s No Place Like Fairmont,” Fairmont State University celebrated Homecoming 2016 Sept. 29, through Oct. 1, with a variety of events for students, alumni, faculty, staff and the Falcon community.
“As an FSU graduate, I know firsthand that Fairmont State University helps you achieve your goals. In my new role as Alumni Director, I was excited to share and celebrate the achievements of our current and future Falcons during Homecoming 2016,” said Meagan Gibson, Interim Alumni Director, Class of 2012.
On Sept. 29, Homecoming began with the annual Homecoming Parade, sponsored by ACE Hardware, in downtown Fairmont. Float judging took place in front of the Marion County Courthouse. Immediately following the parade an Alumni Gathering at the Joe N’ Throw, and a Pep Rally to celebrate Falcon pride were held.
One of the highlights of Homecoming was the Emeritus Induction Brunch to welcome Class of 1966 into the Emeritus Club. To read more about this year’s Emeritus Class and to see how they are making FSU history, click here.
Friday also included the Fairmont State Foundation’s 1865 Heritage Society Reception. Following the reception, the Fairmont State Athletic Association held the annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet. For more information on this year’s Class, click here.
Saturday began with the annual Alumni Award Winners brunch. More than 100 people gathered to honor this year’s recipients. You can read more about the honorees here.
Finally, the weekend was capped off with Falcon football when the Fighting Falcons took the field against Urbana. For the second year, Homecoming weekend was paired with Family Weekend and the campus was a full of past, present, and future falcons.
