Greek Life Governing Councils

All-Greek-Council (AGC):

Advised by the Assistant Director of Student Life, The All-Greek-Council is an official governing board comprised of select representatives from each of the active fraternities and sororities on campus. The voting group is responsible for policies and decisions that affect the entire joint Greek community (men and women alike). The group is furthermore responsible for coordinating joint Greek events and programs, such as the annual Greek Week event series. The council meets bi-monthly to establish communication between Greek organizations as well as to serve as a liaison between the organizations and faculty/administration and establish a system of self-governance that promotes the healthy state of the Greek system. The All-Greek-Council shall seek to establish better relations, further the spirit of unity, and increase the sense of responsibility among the fraternities and sororities at Fairmont State University. The All-Greek-Council provides service, educational, and leadership opportunities for the Greek community. The council is led by an executive board consisting of a President, Vice President, and Secretary. The positions of Vice President and Secretary shall be elected annually, with the role of Vice President alternating between a fraternity and sorority member who shall fulfill the role of President after a one-year (two semester) term.

Inter-Sorority Council (ISC): (To be formed)

Advised by the Assistant Director of Student Life, the ISC is comprised of representatives from each active sorority on campus. The voting group is responsible for many of the policies, plans and fundraising efforts that affect each active sorority. In addition, the ISC shall work with the Assistant Director of Student Life in the planning and implementation of sorority recruitment activities each year. Member sororities shall also abide by the governance of their respective national associations (such as the National Panhellenic Council (NPC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)) with local chapters following the same best practices. The ISC President serves for a one-year (two semester) term; the president's position is rotating in nature (meaning that at the end of each term, the next sorority in line is permitted the position).

Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC): (To be formed)

Advised by the Assistant Director of Student Life, the Inter-Fraternity Council, is comprised of representatives from each active fraternity on campus. The voting group is responsible for many of the policies, plans and fundraising efforts that affect each active fraternity. In addition, the IFC shall work with the Assistant Director of Student Life in the planning and implementation of fraternity recruitment activities each year. Member fraternities shall also abide by the governance of their respective national associations (such as the North-American Inter-Fraternity Conference (NIC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)) with local chapters following the same best practices. The IFC President serves for a one-year (two semester) term; the president's position is rotating in nature (meaning that at the end of each term, the next fraternity in line is permitted the position.
