The Fairmont State University Department of Music is proud to present recording artist and international performer, Dr. Andrea Kapell Loewy, at the Folk Life Center on the campus of Fairmont State on Wednesday, October 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Loewy will present a solo flute recital titled, “Colors of the Solo Flute in Song and Dance.” The event is free and open to the public.
The Fairmont State University Masquers and Town & Gown Players are proud to present “The Addams Family”, a musical comedy which includes themes of inclusion, acceptance, love, family, honesty, and coming of age. The play will be performed in the Wallman Hall Theatre on the campus of Fairmont State on October 26, 27 and November 1, 2, 3 at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, October 28, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 304-367-4240.
Fairmont State University is hosting Mara Newbery Greer as the artist-in-residence for the 2018-2019 academic year for the Theatre Program in the School of Fine Arts.
The Artist-In-Residence program is designed to enhance the academic and curricular arts programs of the University. It provides the opportunity for faculty development and growth as well as a valuable intellectual and cultural resource for the community.
Open auditions will be held for the Fairmont State University Town and Gown production of “The Addams Family”, a musical comedy based on the cartoons of Charles Addams. The audition for “The Addams Family” will be held on Saturday, August 25. The singing audition will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dance auditions will follow at 3:30 p.m.
The Fairmont State University Department of Music is excited to announce a special concert benefiting the Clarksburg V.A. and their Vets With Guitars program. The “Vets With Guitars Benefit Concert” will be live at Fairmont State on Saturday, May 12. The concert starts at 7 p.m. in Wallman Hall Auditorium on the Fairmont State campus. Admission is just $10 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the local Clarksburg V.A. and Vets With Guitars.

The Fairmont State University department of communication and theatre arts is excited to announce a special presentation from Dr. Francene Kirk, the Abelina Suarez Professor of Communication and Theatre at Fairmont State University. The presentation titled, “9 Before IX”, an “informance,” will be presented live on Monday, April 30 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, May 1 at 12:30 p.m. in room 314 of Wallman Hall on the campus of Fairmont State.
Dr. Anne Patterson, Fairmont State University professor of music, has received the Ann Kathryn Flagg Artist or Art Supporter Award during the 2018 Legacy of Women Awards, presented by the West Virginia Women’s Commission.
The initial spring semester theatre offering by the Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and Masquers is Lucy Prebble's compelling dark comedy, "The Effect". The production will run February 28 through March 4 in the Wallman Hall Studio Theatre (Room 314) on the Fairmont State campus.
