As part of Homecoming 2018, twelve alumni were honored during the Emeritus Club Induction and Alumni Awards Luncheon. Sponsored by Thrasher Group Inc., the event was held on Friday, October 19 at 11 a.m. in the Falcon Center, Gym 1.
Fairmont State University alumna Melva Hess has been named the parade marshal for the 2018 homecoming parade on Oct. 20. This honor is given in recognition of her faithful service and dedication to Fairmont State and her local community.
She received her undergraduate in biology and home economics in 1940. She was also the 1984 alumni award winner.
The 100-year-old said she feels very close to the University and is honored to be able to represent it in this way.
As hundreds flock to Duvall-Rosier field on Saturday, October 20 for Homecoming 2018, Fairmont State cheerleading will join in the fun with a youth cheer clinic for girls and boys ages three to 12.
“This is an annual event for our team,” said Coach Samantha Eakle. “We love making our Homecoming game even more spirit filled by having the sidelines full of our local kids. With so many people in the stands it is a really exciting day to be on the sidelines cheering on the Falcons.”
Do you make the best pepperoni rolls in town? Prove it during our inaugural Fairmont State Alumni Association Community Pepperoni Roll Competition on Thursday, October 18. The event will be held in the Falcon Center on Main Street.
"The pepperoni roll is a Fairmont staple and what a fun way to bring our community together," said alumni association director Ashley Knight. We hope local businesses, community members, departments on campus and students will participate."
